Audio Recording Explained So Anyone Can Understand It I just read a fantastic article by Recording Magazine called The Art and Science of the Mix: Methods and Approaches to Mixing. Our mastering suite is one of the highlights of Stadiumred's New York facility. According to Bob Katz, the monitor system permits hearing inner details in the music that otherwise might cause problems for the end listener. I have chosen that one as it is trying to explain the different concepts in depth. "Mastering Audio, The Art and the Science." -by Bob Katz was curriculum for a year in my degree program. Headed by Chief His passion for music and devotion to the science and art of mastering has led him to work on a collection of influential music by headliners like Justin Timberlake, Usher, John Legend and The Rolling Stones. You may have heard that audio mastering is best left up to a mastering engineer. (Bob Katz, Mastering Audio: The Art and The Science, Oxford: Focal Press 2002). Is the presupposition that there will be three distinct people involved in a music recording project: the person recording and preparing the tracks (recording engineer), the person mixing the project (the mix engineer), and the person mastering the project (the mastering engineer). But, how much of a difference does a pro really make? The one I have bought is "Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science". Its a great book and really gets into the minute details inherent with mastering. Mastering is the art of perfecting your audio before releasing it to the masses.
